Mission "To actively pursue and participate in activities that have a positive impact in the community, create value and benefit for those we are serving, and instill a service mentality in Fellows." Our Involvement with Common Goal
One of the Service Initiative’s main partners is Common Goal. Spearheaded by the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Common Goal is an active collaboration of educators, community organizations, and business leaders which aims to raise the graduation rate from 70 to 80 percent and decrease the number of high school drop-outs to 5 percent by 2012 in Marion County high schools. One of Common Goal’s six interventions is the mentoring program. Common Goal mentoring is school-based, group mentoring of students at-risk of not graduating high school. The mentor’s commitment is two hours per month mentoring at a Marion County high school. Orr Fellows mentor students at New Tech Academy at Arsenal Technical High School.
